Repo! The Genetic Opera! The Swap!
As most people who know me know, I participate in organized swaps through Craftster fairly regularly. This week I finished up my items for the Repo! The Genetic Opera! swap. I can’t post what I crafted for it just yet, lest my swap partner stumble upon the post prematurely, but I can post the amazing items she sent me!
Here are all the goodies, all wrapped up! I love that she made up some Geneco letterhead for the note she sent me, and each package had a little clue to its contents written on it (“Addicted to the knife?”, “Geneco employee? For your travels…”, “Inspired by Blind Mag’s outfit in Chromaggia!”, and “Zydrate comes in… metallic shiny spandex?”). hehehe.
These are the spats she designed me, based on the Chromaggia costume. They’re synthetic leather and feathers, and fasten with velcro. They’re really, really, really cool. I’ve wanted spats forever, and my partner Smashu had designed some in the past for one of her costumes that I fell in love with. When we were first working out the specs for our swap, I mentioned how great they were, to which she responded: “as I am starting the spat revolution, I’m determined to think of how to incorporate [Repo into spats]”. hehe she succeeded quite nicely I think.
Check out the epic Zydrate clutch purse she designed. The girl has serious sewing skills, its so damned adorable. She also added two D rings so that it can easily be converted into a belt purse. I love the stitching detail across the top to make it look like a screw cap on top of the vial. Badass.
Geneco employee ID/luggage tags (there are six of them)! hehe these are so smart, I can’t wait to have an excuse to use them. I’ve blurred out my personal info for obvious reasons, but you can see the Repo! font she used on my first name. At one point during our correspondence, Smashu hinted that she’d gotten strange looks from the lady at Kinkos when she went to laminate one of the items in her package… I’d been tormenting myself since trying to figure out what the hell she was making ;)
And finally, the pièce de résistance – Amber Sweet’s cage skirt!!! This is the last costume bit that I needed for my Zydrate Anatomy costume, and its perfect! It looks exactly like the real deal, and it fits perfectly. She used elastic instead of the non-stretch nylon webbing material in the original which is so smart because its comfortable AND easy to get on :) Unfortunately my light box is much too small to get a good shot of this item, but as soon as I’m able, I’ll post action shots of both this and the spats.
I’m really thrilled with everything I received – Smashu outdid herself! It was a great, all-around swap experience, not only for the swag, but also because we were so well matched in taste and personality! We’re even in the same province so one of these days hopefully we’ll get dressed up and go to a showing of Repo! together ^_^
Thanks Smash, its been awesome!
