Stir the Blood

While looking for interesting ideas for a name for this piece, I stumbled across the wiki entry for red which says shades of red are supposed to “stir the blood”, as in inspire passion, rage, love, etc. I kinda like that. This necklace is a beast – loads of heavy sterling silver 3mm rolo chain, six sterling beads and sterling silver wiring, bead caps and fused jump rings. This is a very labor intensive piece because of all the wire work – every bead is carefully wired with wrapped loops to ensure the structure can support the weight of all the beads. The beads, which come in a variety of reds, oranges, yellows and purples, range from semi-precious stones to glass. Included are carved cinnabar, Swarovski crystal in a variety of cuts, amethyst, carnelian, amber (both faceted and Russian), garnet, fire agate, citrine, coral, dyed chalcedony and glass. It measures approximately 52″ in length, and can be wore plain or looped. I personally love these types of necklaces because they go with pretty much anything while still making a strong statement. It also looks different every time you wear it depending on how you’ve positioned it.
