Tall Ship necklace

Posted July 14th, 2009 by admin

So this isn’t a new piece – in fact, Miss Lek picked this up at my sale last November. It is, however, the most frustratingly difficult thing to photograph that I’ve ever made! Thankfully the lovely Nven was on hand this weekend, along with her mighty beast of a camera, to rectify the situation!
The center piece of this is a vintage sterling silver ship charm that I picked up at the Ottawa Antiques Show last year. The frothy ocean waters are turquoise, opalite, Swarovski crystals, glass and silver beads. The “moon” is a hammered silver ring and the smattering of “stars” amongst the silver chains are turquoise, glass, Swarovski pearls and silver beads.
This is probably the most artsy piece I’ve made to date, and I really like how the final piece translated from my original concept. It’s also a nightmare to manage if you don’t keep it hanging, but all art comes with a price, right? ;)

I love love love loooove this necklace! However, I’ve mucked it up again. Can I bring it in for fixins after you guys come back from vacation? I have no idea what happened, but the chains don’t string through the moon in the same way anymore *pout*
