Rebel pendant
My birthday came early this year! Darling husband bought me a real torch, and it is SWEET. It comes with three sizes of tips and, best of all, this baby uses propane so it hooks up directly to any BBQ tank. This is apparently pretty new technology for North America (most torches on the market here use either acetylene or some gas/oxygen combination), so it was well worth the wait. I’ve been using a butane blowtorch (of the hardware store variety) all this time, which gets the job done but is what you might call a little heavy-handed, hehe. A few projects have ended in heartbreak when hours of careful cutting melted away into a little pool of silver.
First up for my shiny new torch: soldering the jump rings for this commissioned piece. I had one of those “oh THIS is how this is supposed to work” moments here – it’s amazing what a difference the right tools make, lol. The pendant itself is hand cut and polished from 0.75mm sterling silver sheet. I will be sending it off to it’s new home tomorrow.
