Experiments

11 April, 2018 | Filed under: Ships in Bottle and tagged with: nautical, ships in bottles

Here are a couple of more unique examples of ships in bottles we’ve made, one depicting an action scene, and the other using a more unusual container. The race scene (complete with teeny buoy!) is housed in a vintage bottle, and we’ve experimented with some colour in the sails for this one.

The two masted schooner is installed in a light bulb, which is challenging mostly because its difficult to open the base of the bulb and widen it enough without breaking it. Pouring the resin without getting any on the ship also required some creative maneuvering since the container is vertical instead of horizontal. We experimented with tinting the resin in this one with some blue oil paints. The sand in both bottles is from Barbados.
